Pilgrimage to Unity Village!
Sunday, October 12th through Saturday, October 18th, 2008!
In a specific sense, pilgrimage is a journey taken to a place that is sacred because of what has happened there, who has been associated with it, and its natural feeling as a “sacred space.” One might say the “veil is thin” in such a place. Unity Village was founded upon a Divine Idea to create such a place in the early 1900’s. Its physical or manifest beginning occurred when Charles Fillmore expressed this idea to a study group and one of the group laughingly pitched a penny to Charles saying “Here, this is for your building fund.” Charles didn’t laugh though. He took the penny and blessed it and gave thanks for it. Today, that penny is a beautiful village in Missouri where ministers and spiritual teachers are trained, Daily Word and Unity Magazine is published, a 24-hour-a-day prayer ministry (Silent Unity) is conducted and where hundreds of 1000’s of individuals have traveled for spiritual renewal.
The Unity Church of Sedona has proposed that we take a pilgrimage back to this most Holy Place to honor the roots of our movement and to gain our own spiritual renewal.
Pilgrimage begins when you commit
All pilgrimages begin with an Intent followed by a Commitment and Preparation. We then move to a ritual of “Leaving Behind” the old, stepping through the Threshold, Travel, Time at the Sacred Place and The Return and Integration.
Are you called? If so, the first step in preparation is to call and register for the number of classes you wish to participate in.
One class $150
Two classes $250
Three classes $325
Four classes $375
You can view the schedule of classes on www.spiritpathonline.org. Click on education, then click on SEE. Scroll down and click on schedule. Scroll down and click on Fall Schedule Session A. You may then wish to call 816-251-3535 for further information and/or to register. Or you may register online.
The second step is to make reservations for accommodations. On the same website under SEE you can scroll down and click on reservations and view the various options. All options include 3 meals per day at the cafeteria. Examples are:

Motel Single $529 Shared $415
You may then wish to call 866-348-6489 to make reservations. We recommend adding an additional day (Oct. 11th) to your reservations. The prices above include food and lodging from Sunday, October 12th to Saturday, October 18th. However, airfare leaving on Sat. Oct. 11 is less expensive and allows for a time of settling in.
The third step is to make your airline reservations and we recommend doing so as early as possible. Prices will go up over time. At this writing, air travel can be purchased for between $275 and $325 on Priceline.com or Hotwire.com. For those who choose to fly we are flying into Kansas City, Missouri airport.
Although classes can be a rich experience and can give the individual credit toward an eventual teaching license, we recommend you also consider keeping some time free for meditation and contemplation and exploration of the village. UnityVillage is a beautiful place. We will be there as the leaves are turning and the atmosphere is deeply spiritual.
It appears that we may be a very large group – perhaps the largest ever to come together from one church. At this time, based on early interest shown, we believe there may be 30 or more of us embarking on this journey together.
There will be a number of rituals conducted along the way:
- Leaving Behind (at Unity of Sedona)
- Threshold (on your own)
- Departure (at Unity of Sedona)
- Arrival Ceremony (Sunday afternoon at UnityVillage)
- The Return (at UnityVillage)
- Integration/Re-entry (Unity of Sedona)
By it very nature, pilgrimage evokes “apparent obstacles” to the journey. A part of the power results from confronting obstacles with consciousness and refusing to be deterred from showing up to your calling. Your process of registration, making reservations for lodging and airfare and possible issues that can come up in our personal lives will provide us the opportunity to show up with a full commitment and trust Spirit to open all doors and resolve all issues.

The church will not be involved in handling any of the preparation. We will support you in handling them yourself however.
