A discussion of our mission statement follows, sharing a more complete picture of who we are, our values and beliefs.
Unity of Sedona
Nestled in the Red Rocks of the Verde Valley, Unity serves congregants, the community and many travelers on their spiritual paths. Sedona is a mecca of spirituality and Unity is called to be an umbrella church, honoring the many paths to God.
Is an Awakening Community,

Our role is to facilitate Awakening to the Truth that Love is who we are, rather than the ego-selves we have believed ourselves to be. We are reminded of our true reality through Sunday’s transformational messages and music, classes, 12 step support groups, speakers, films, workshops, and connection with an evolving spiritual family.

United as One Presence,
Through prayer and meditation, we realize the illusion of separation. Like waves of the ocean, we are each an integral part of the One.
Unity’s origin was healing prayer, which remains a part of Sunday services and beyond. Chaplains are available to listen and pray with people after church and to call members monthly.
Mastermind Prayer groups meet weekly in various locations to provide support through affirmative prayer. Meditation occurs in silent worship and by walking our labyrinth

Radiating Love,
Love is our foundation and from that love is born
inclusivity and diversity, the honoring of all paths to God, the Knowing we are all One—no separation. Unity of Sedona is a welcoming and safe community, which agrees and disagrees in love, where we support and love one another unconditionally and we see God in the eyes of each person we meet.

Joy,
As we become more loving, more aware of the One Presence, and of Divine Order, joy bubbles from the Source within.
Joy is expressed throughout our community, visible in all church services and in activities such as Friendly Feasts, talent shows, concerts and potlucks.

“Unity stands for peace in our lifetime…one life at a time.” (Unity minister, Gary Simmons) Peace in the world begins in our hearts and we strive to practice it in our daily lives.
We develop harmony through classes (such as A Course in Miracles and 4T Prosperity), Season for Nonviolence and World Day of Prayer activities, our worship services, and becoming more increasingly conscious of our daily thoughts and actions.

We revere and steward all with which we’ve been blessed: our Earth as we strive to conserve and recycle; the greater Sedona community with which we share through outreach projects; our spiritual community as we lovingly tend its grounds, its buildings and its people; and our own mind/body/Spirit as we share our God-given talents, skills, and passions with our community through projects and service teams.

Unity Historical information
Unity
began in the late 1800s during the time of Transcendentalists such as
Emerson, Whitman, Thoreau, etc. Unity founders Charles and Myrtle Filmore
were seekers of Truth, and sought to find Truth in all philosophies
and faiths, knowing that there is only one God with Universal Truth
for all people. Charles and Myrtle believed in the healing power of
prayer and were both healed through prayer.
Unity
began as a prayer ministry and is best known for Silent Unity, a 24-hour
telephone prayer ministry, and the Daily Word, a daily inspirational
reading guide. Unity has little dogma, but rather supports people on
their spiritual journey in a positive and uplifting way.
We
believe in the power of God that resides within everyone and unites
us all. Hence our name, Unity.
